Why Kaboomer?

Posted on August 23, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: , , |

It took some thought to come up with a blog post name. Possibly just my name. Possibly my name with birth date. The dog’s name or worse. I settled on Kaboomer for three basic reasons. One, I am obviously a Boomer. Two, I am one half of the Boomer and the Babe show. Third, I have a tendency to “go off,” “explode”, or just plain go “KABOOM” when idiotic, clueless or uninformed people start spewing.

It is entirely possible that you might consider me one of those people and I invite that judgment if that is the way you feel. But have the courage of your convictions and post a response to what you think is my idiocy.

All I ask is write intelligently, be concise and be willing to accept whatever response your posting may bring.

What this blog IS NOT — it IS NOT an platform for partisan political ranting, endorsing or attacking political candidates.

The only positions that will be discussed here are concerning such things as ballot measures that affect the Boomer Generation. In that light we will only identify the issue, name the supporters and detractors and let you decide which way to go.

This will be done with the assistance of our affiliation with the Arizona Capitol Times, which is known for the fact that their reports don’t endorse a particular stance.

There is one area where we will be attempting to encourage a change and that is the way ballot measures are presented. But you can hear more about that on the Boomer and the Babe Show, and we hope you will join us in the campaign. We feel that it will be beneficial to all,be they boomers or not.

Be sure to listen to us on the radio as we bring interesting guests to talk about their involvement in the boomer community. In Arizona you can hear the Boomer and the Babe Show on the radio at KFNX 1100 AM at 9:00 AM Arizona Time (which is 9:00 AM Pacific Daylight Savings Time), or on the web at http://www.1100kfnx.com.

Above all, remember to get your boomer on……….. because at 50 you’re just getting started!

Calling All Mavens

Posted on August 22, 2008. Filed under: Boomer Interests | Tags: , , , , |

A maven is defined as one who is “dazzlingly skilled in a given field” — most boomers have enough life experience to pick a field and proclaim their own mavenness! And frankly, if you’re not feeling dazzling or particularly skilled enough at something to call yourself an expert, rest assured that listening to boomer talk radio or reading boomer-directed blogs, books and articles just might spur you on to find the next “cool” thing you’re going to do.

The Boomer and The Babe Show is the place to tune in for timely conversations about boomer interests: health, wealth, fitness, family, relationships, travel and more. A recent show (Tuesday, August 19) featured Leigh Strickman of Accurate-Leigh-Done Taxes. Leigh is an enrolled agent (tax maven) and helps clients plan and pay taxes to their best advantage as prescribed by law and the tax code.
